Dear Parents of Middleton High School Students,
We’re excited to share a unique vision for our Middleton High School football games that comes from a dedicated community member, Jason Steik. Jason has some inspiring ideas to help us create the kindest, most welcoming parent and fan section in Idaho – and it’s something we hope our parent community will take the lead on!
Jason shared an experience from a recent college game that left a lasting impression: opposing fans stayed after the game to offer words of encouragement and praise to the visiting players. It was an experience so positive and unexpected that it changed how the players thought about the game. Imagine if that was Middleton – if every visitor left our field talking about how warmly they were welcomed, regardless of the score. We believe we can create a culture of love and inclusion that truly sets Middleton apart, and we need your help to make it happen.
Here’s how you can get involved:
Reach Out: If you’re interested in helping out, Jason would love to hear from you directly. You can contact him at steikjp@hotmail.com.
Support Visiting Fans with Popcorn: One simple but impactful gesture is offering popcorn to fans from the opposing team, delivered by our own Middleton parents and students. If you’d like to support this effort, donations are welcome via Venmo at @jason-steik. These funds will go towards purchasing popcorn from our concession stands to share with our guests.
Show Positivity on the Field: Jason also proposes offering small thank-you cards and gifts to referees as a token of gratitude after each game. It’s a small way we can show respect and kindness that’s in the true spirit of Middleton.
This initiative has the potential to transform our games into a model of sportsmanship and respect, creating an atmosphere where both our players and guests feel valued and respected. If this mission resonates with you, please reach out to Jason to learn more about how you can join in. Whether through direct involvement or contributing to the popcorn fund, your support can help make this vision a reality.
The parent group plans to do this at varsity home football games going forward. The first opportunity will be this Friday, November1st at our home playoff game against Highland High School!
Thank you for the positive example you set and for helping make Middleton’s fan section a place where everyone feels welcome. Your enthusiasm and kindness truly make all the difference!
